Revolutionary America

The American Founding is the greatest political achievement in history. The American colonists had developed a unique way of life as they practiced self-government for 150 years. In the struggles between colonies and mother country that followed the French and Indian War, Britain declared the Americans had no right to rule themselves. Our ancestors fought the Revolution, risked their “lives, fortunes, and sacred honor,” and formed a stable government to secure that right for themselves and their posterity.

In this documentary that originally appeared in theatres across the nation, Hillsdale professors in politics and history will be joined by a few well-known thinkers to explore the causes and consequences of the Declaration for Independence, the Revolutionary War, and the struggle to form a government capable of protecting its citizens. Our Founders ensured that they and their posterity could live in peace, enjoy prosperity, and pursue happiness.
